Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its result. We do not maintain a local log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you send an email, we retain the message as needed to answer it. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Loading a page can create routine technical records about the visit:
- Page-view dates and times
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- Pages viewed and approximate visit duration
- Referring website, when available
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved on a device. They and analytics services can show aggregated patterns, such as popular pages or points where visits end. Browser controls allow cookies to be blocked, although doing so may change how some features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Route a query to the selected search provider
- Maintain reliable and responsive pages
- Diagnose performance or security problems
- Measure which resources visitors use
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The site identifies official Cape Girardeau County and Missouri sources, including the Sheriff's Office, 32nd Judicial Circuit, Missouri State Highway Patrol Central Repository, and Missouri Sex Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report or a record about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Their privacy terms govern information entered in their tools, and each company decides how long it retains data and when it shares data. Read the applicable policy before submitting a query because this policy does not control the provider.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Cape Girardeau County offices, Missouri agencies, court portals, legal resources, or outside tools. Once you follow an outbound link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before providing personal data.
An advertising provider may use its own technology to recognize activity across websites and select ads. That processing occurs under the provider's controls.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Limited information can be disclosed to:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Search providers that receive a submitted query
- Advertising networks that serve material on the site
- Government or law-enforcement bodies when valid legal process requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected data. No internet service can guarantee complete security, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. When we learn that such data was provided, we will take steps to remove it.
Your Data Rights
Applicable law may provide rights concerning personal data. Missouri's official-record regime is separate: the Missouri Sunshine Law, Chapter 610, governs public government records, while RSMo §43.540 governs dissemination of criminal-history record information. Requests about an official criminal record must go to its government custodian. For information held by this private site, you may:
- Ask what personal information we maintain about you
- Request deletion where the law permits it
- Seek correction of inaccurate personal information
- Opt out of processing when an applicable law provides that choice
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this policy. An updated version becomes available here with its new effective date, so visitors should review the policy periodically.
Effective date: July 30, 2026
